Overview
OOTranslator is an OpenOffice.org wrapper for Google Translate. In simpler terms, it's a utility which allows users of OpenOffice.org office suite to translate text from a document opened to any language. It does this using Google Translate library at the back end.
This is particularly useful when you want to quickly translate your document or part of it from one language to another without having to copy paste it in online interface. OOTranslator provides a nice and simple interface which allows you to customize its behaviour using various options.

This one is for the impatient who can't wait to read through long READMEs.
Follow these simple steps to start using OOTranslator
- Install OpenOffice.org (Its available for FREE at http://openoffice.org)
- Download OOTranslator OXT version from Downloads section
- Start OpenOffice.org and open the downloaded OXT file in it directly
- Follow on screen instructions to install the extension
- Thats it! Sorry to disappoint you if you were expecting a longer list ;-)

We are still preparing source code archive with necessary prerequisites for license.

Troubleshooting
While you can post your difficulties on the google group above, here are some quick tips for commonly reported problems.
- GoogleTranslate menu NOT seen : Some users on Windows XP have reported that they were unable to see "GoogleTranslate" menu in OpenOffice.org menubar even after installing the extension file. In this case, try restarting OpenOffice after closing all open files. Users reported that menu was visible after a restart of OpenOffice.org
